Tai Chi & The I Ching: A Journey of Reflection and Insight
- Quietude1130 Montreat Rd, Black Mountain, NC 28711, USA, Black Mountain,
About the event:
The I Ching, or Book of Changes, is one of the world's oldest systems of wisdom. Blending philosophy, symbolism, and contemplation, it offers a unique framework for self-reflection and understanding life's transitions.
In this introductory workshop, longtime Tai Chi and Qigong instructor Mark will guide participants through gentle breathing and energy practices designed to harmonize body and mind. Following these exercises, participants will learn the traditional practice of casting three coins to generate an I Ching hexagram and explore its meaning in relation to a personal question or area of focus.
Participants may choose to reflect on:
- Personal health and well-being
- Relationships and life circumstances
- Their connection to larger patterns and cycles of change
The I Ching is not a system of fortune-telling, but rather a tool for insight, contemplation, and decision-making. Through the lens of synchronicity (a concept popularized by psychologist Carl Jung) it invites us to notice meaningful patterns and deepen our understanding of ourselves and our place in the world.
This introductory session will provide an accessible foundation for understanding the symbolism of I Ching hexagrams and their role in personal reflection, while exploring the deep connection between movement, awareness, and the ancient wisdom of change.
This is a free event. Registration is not required.
