The Asheville Museum of Science is a great portal to a few of the wonders of the Southern Appalachian bioregion. It helps the kids a lot if the grown-ups share the excitement and the wonder. The plate tectonics table opened the important discussion of how our mountains were formed. The rocks display opened up the geological world beneath our feet. Star Guy Gary showed the night sky that awaits us when we get outside and away from the lights. The museum opened the door, and, following the kids’ interests, we were inspired to further study projects in the museum and field trips outside to develop their familiarity and love for this amazing and engaging ecosystem we live in. A Great Winter Afternoon

pretty lame for two 9-year olds. We spent less than thirty minutes. was expecting much more based on the reviews. It's one floor with 4 exhibits.

While this museum only had three rooms, our 9-year-old enjoyed playing in it for nearly two and a half hours. It was a great way to beat the heat. The staff were extremely friendly. All of the exhibits were very interactive and educational. We'd visit again. 

Small but fun for a child

Kind of expensive for 3 adults and a 7 year old.  Most of the museum seems geared for about 3-5 year olds.  After about 45 minutes our 7 year old was ready to go.

Not much to see.

Great hands on space.  Enough exhibits on one floor to capture the attention of two boys for a few hours.  The 6 year old loved the climbing attraction and water table.  The 11 year old spent a surprising amount of time on several scavenger hunts and the fossil exhibits.  The art installation "Advance" is a thought provoking commentary on invasive species.  Will visit again!
