The Yoga of Sound: A Sound Healing Journey

  • This monthly event explores Nada Yoga, the Yoga of sound. As Irena Sterna puts it, “Nada Yoga, translated as "Unity through Sound," is not just a practice but a journey into inner harmony, where sound serves as a bridge to spiritual consciousness.” Nada Yoga is based on the ancient understanding that the entire universe originates from sound. Sound healing, alongside silent meditation, is one of humanity’s oldest practices to restore balance to body, mind and spirit.

    What to expect:

We will begin with a short meditation to help us arrive in our bodies and in the space. From here we will enter into a vibratory journey (sound bath) into the realms of gong, Tibetan bowls, crystal bowls, handpan, flutes, didgeridoo, harmonium, guitar, drum, chimes, bells, rattles, voice, and other sound healing instruments. This will end with a few minutes of silence.

Depending on group energy, this may flow into a short participatory soundsploration in which we unite our voices in toning and mantra. We will have some slow time at the end to process. This is a great opportunity to rest, relax, come back to yourself, and meditate on the nature of sound and silence.

    ------

"Sound is not merely vibration in air. In the deepest yogic understanding, sound is the very fabric of consciousness — the first emanation of the Absolute, the primordial pulse from which all creation unfolds."
