WILD: Echoes Of Nature

Mar 14, 2026
5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
  • Mark Bettis Gallery announces a new art show featuring Richard Johnson, beginning March 14th, 2026 at Bettis’ River Arts District Asheville gallery.

“WILD: Echoes Of Nature” exhibition will run from March 14th, 2026, through March 28th, 2026, at the Mark Bettis River Arts District Gallery located at 123 Roberts St. Asheville, NC. The gallery is hosting an opening night reception on Saturday, March 14th from 5 to 7 pm. The reception is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served. All works will be available for purchase.

Step into WILD: Echoes Of Nature and find yourself immersed in wildlife rendered not as static portraits, but as living moments of breath, muscle, and instinct—captured in vibrant color and fluid movement. Richard Johnson’s animals do more than resemble; they resonate.

In these paintings, you’ll sense the closeness of fur and wing, the quiet tension of bodies in motion, and the uncanny connection of a watchful eye meeting your own. Johnson’s abstracted representational style transforms familiar creatures into fleeting gestures—glimpses of motion, presence, and life itself.

Richard Johnson’s work is in private collections in the United States, Asia, Europe and The Middle East and in galleries on both coasts of the U.S.

Mark Bettis Gallery hours are Monday - Thursday from 10 am to 4pm, Friday-Saturday 10 am to 5 pm, Sunday 11 pm to 3 pm. The gallery is located in the River Arts District at 123 Roberts Street, Asheville NC 28801. The gallery features unique and distinctive works of art in a variety of mediums including contemporary paintings, glass, sculpture and mixed media.
