Vanishing Winters: A Photographic Elegy | Opening Reception and Exhibition
- Pink Dog Creative342-348 Depot St, Asheville, NC 28801, USA, Asheville,
Celebrate the opening of Vanishing Winters: A Photographic Elegy, a solo exhibition by Asheville photographer Tanya Triber, on Saturday, December 5, from 5 to 7 PM at Pink Dog Creative Gallery in the River Arts District. The reception is free and open to the public, with complimentary beer, wine, and light bites.
The exhibition brings together 17 photographs of winter in three places: the high peaks of the Southern Appalachians, the glaciers and coastline of Iceland, and Norway’s Lofoten Islands above the Arctic Circle. The Appalachians and the mountains of Norway were once a single range, split apart when the Atlantic opened. Today they are warming together.
Vanishing Winters is on view through January 2, 2027. Tanya will be at the gallery to meet visitors every Saturday in December from 1 to 4 PM, and on closing day, Saturday, January 2. Prints are available throughout the exhibition, and $50 from every sale goes to Protect Our Winters.
This project was supported by ArtsAVL, Bank of America, and the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
Admission is free.
