Summer Book Club: A Rebellion of Care
- Cooperative Coffee Roasters210 Haywood Rd, Asheville, NC 28806, USA, Asheville,
Join us for a soul-nourishing journey through A Rebellion of Care by David Gate — a moving manifesto in poems and essays that invites us to embrace our humanity and live fully alive in our age of social change, hyper-capitalism, and pervasive loneliness. With signature snark, humor, and billowing hope, Gate inspires us to rally for what makes life worth living: creating art as a form of care, living beyond consumer impulse, and loving our neighbors (even the odd ones).
Rejecting the notion that despair and positivity are our only available responses, this collection urges us to foster deep friendships that challenge social orders and embrace questions of meaning and purpose. As Gate writes, "Saying something true in a world awash with lies is the first act of rebellion."
This will be a warm and welcoming space for all who attend. Reserve your spot and prepare for a morning of connection and community.
The book club will be facilitated by Faye D'Avanza and Kim Drye. Faye is a seasoned writer-editor, holistic librarian, and creative community builder with a passion for yoga and literature. Kim, owner and director of West Asheville Yoga, holds a Bachelor's in Literature and has a deep love for discussing texts and philosophy.
This event is free and open to everyone eager to learn and grow together. We'd love to have you join the conversation!
Location is at Cooperative Coffee, 210 Haywood Rd. Asheville NC 28806
