About the eventBurial Beer Co. is releasing Echoes of the Forest Oak Aged Brown AleΒ at this year's Sharpen the BladesΒ β their annual celebration of farmhouse ales at Forestry Camp.
Here's the story behind the pour: Matt Christie of Green River WoodsΒ β one of our partner woodworkers and an Asheville urban wood salvager since 2008 β sourced Helene-felled white oak from his network of local arborists and sawyers. Appalachian Cooperage / Taylor StaveΒ in Marion, NC hand-built six 30-gallon barrels from that timber. Burial filled them β with guidance from the legends of American oak fermentation at Firestone WalkerΒ Brewing β and created a 5.7% malt-forward brown ale with oaked essence and a tannin character that lingers like the memory of Helene itself. Draft only. You can only get it here.
From salvaged tree to milled white oak to handcrafted barrel to your glass β this is what Appalachian collaboration looks like.
Every pour supports our mission to transform fallen timber into lasting community art across Western North Carolina.
