Poetry Primer: The Curious Practice of Paying Attention

This full-bodied, 5-week poetry series will guide you from "Ooof, poetry" to "Where's my journal?!" by buoying artistic play and cultivating attention. We'll take notice of neon color palettes, everyday coffee-shop conversation, rhythmic twitches in the body, the gruff and warm-hearted voice of life, and see what happens when we revolutionize noticings into language. Weaving together poetic elements + form, guided discussion, and past poetic works, we'll create a multidisciplinary space which busts the doors wide-open to an invigorated poetry practice! Plus, oodles (oodles!) of writing time to build confidence and craft. This class immerses itself in artful experimentation and skill building. It's the ultimate permission slip to be a beginner or to rediscover the beauty in well-worn skills.
