Live Music - Melissa McKinney

Forget the polished, predictable stage—Friday nights at Afterglow are for the raw, unfiltered energy of our Live Music Nights. Fuel up with a drink and get lost in the grit and soul of the performance as Melissa McKinney takes over the space to redefine the sound of The Radical.

Melissa McKinney also known as MAMA is from Asheville, NC. Renowned for her powerful vocals, Melissa is passionate about community and education. She aims to use her voice for good and empower youth to do the same. She serves as the Programming Director for LEAF Global Arts, is the founder of the WTF (Women to the Front) music festival, which highlights women in music and she is on the board of AVLSounds Fest, a multi venue music festival in Asheville, NC. She will be playing The Radical with her good friend Chris Everette - who Melissa says is one of Asheville's most respected guitar players. Chris is also a music educator and a solid supporter of his friends in the music scene. He supports many of the women in music in WNC including Ashley Heath, Gil Francis, and McKinney.
