Working firmly in the jazz tradition, The Core has spent over a decade composing and performing throughout the Southeast. The group presents selections from their upcoming recording alongside highlights from their existing catalog.
SEPTEMBER SPECIAL GUEST: NICK VAYENAS
NYC-based trombonist, trumpeter, composer, and arranger Nick Vayenas joins The Core as a special guest. A Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music, and Thelonious Monk Institute alumnus, Vayenas has been a member of Michael Bublé’s horn section since 2003, appearing on multiple recordings and international tours.
His credits include Mariah Carey, Josh Groban, Bryan Adams, David Foster, Mary J. Blige, Lionel Loueke, Kendrick Scott, Aaron Parks, and the Birdland Big Band. He has performed at Madison Square Garden, Radio City Music Hall, Sydney Opera House, Royal Albert Hall, Blue Note Jazz Club, and Ronnie Scott’s, as well as major international jazz festivals.
As a bandleader, Vayenas has released eight albums, beginning with Synesthesia in 2009 and most recently The Path in 2023. He is a Conn-Selmer Artist and plays Bach trombone and trumpet.
