Hemlock Treatment Volunteer Workday at Violet Hill Cemetery
- Violet Hill CemeteryHazel Mill Rd, Asheville, NC 28806, USA, Asheville,
The Hemlock Restoration Initiative is hosting a Hemlock Treatment Volunteer Workday on Tuesday, December 10th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Violet Hill Cemetery in Asheville, NC.
Hemlock trees in western North Carolina are an important and irreplaceable component of our forests. These trees have been suffering for over two decades from hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA), an invasive insect that can kill the tree in as little as four years.Come help us treat hemlocks in this beautiful area! This volunteer day will involve re-treating healthy hemlocks around the cemetery area on mostly flat terrain, great for those interested in a less strenuous day.
On HRI chemical treatment workdays, volunteers treat hemlocks with insecticide to protect them from hemlock woolly adelgid. Every volunteer will be paired with an experienced, licensed professional who will provide instruction and guidance. For more questions and to register, reach out to Ayla at [email protected].
