Gardening in the Mountains: Gawkers to Gardeners

Gardening remains one of America’s most popular hobbies, and gardeners have played an important role in conserving plants and places. In this talk, you’ll learn how the North Carolina Arboretum uses creativity and engagement to spark interest in gardening and turn that enthusiasm into meaningful conservation of the native plants of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. If our goal is stronger communities and healthier landscapes, one powerful strategy may simply be to make more gardeners.
