Free Community Game Day Aug. 23 - Día de Juegos Comunitario Gratis, 23 de agosto

Play for the City will bring community members together for an afternoon of games, connection and fun during its upcoming Community Game Day, “The Rules of the Game,” on Sunday, August 23, from 3 to 6 p.m. at Martin Luther King Park in Asheville.

The free event is open to everyone and is centered around a simple idea: Meet. Play. Connect.

“There aren’t enough opportunities anymore for people to simply come together and enjoy each other,” said Dr. Amieris Lavender. “Play for the City is about creating that opportunity. You don’t have to know anyone, you don’t have to be good at anything and you don’t need a reason to come other than wanting to have some fun and meet your neighbors.”

Through play, the event creates an informal space for people to meet their neighbors, spend time together and build connections across the Asheville community.

The event includes bilingual English and Spanish outreach as part of its effort to welcome the broader community. 

Play for the City reunirá a miembros de la comunidad para disfrutar de una tarde de juegos, conexión y diversión durante su próximo Día de Juegos Comunitarios, “Las Reglas del Juego”, el domingo 23 de agosto, de 3:00 a 6:00 p. m., en Martin Luther King Park en Asheville.

El evento es gratuito y abierto a todas las personas, y se centra en una idea sencilla: Conoce. Juega. Conecta.

“Hoy en día no hay suficientes oportunidades para que las personas simplemente se reúnan y disfruten de la compañía de los demás”, dijo la Dra. Amieris Lavender. “Play for the City busca crear esa oportunidad. No tienes que conocer a nadie, no tienes que ser bueno en ningún juego y no necesitas ninguna otra razón para venir más que querer divertirte y conocer a tus vecinos.”

A través del juego, el evento crea un espacio informal donde las personas pueden conocer a sus vecinos, compartir tiempo juntas y crear conexiones dentro de la comunidad de Asheville.
