“Transcendence is a perspective in which we can view our whole being from a higher vantage point with acceptance, wisdom, and a sense of connectedness with the rest of humanity," describes Scott Barry Kaufman. This is often what occurs in the ecstatic dance experience when all the elements are just right : a great group of dancers, a safe container, and a musical journey that invites us deeper into ourselves. A journey that doesn't just take us up, it takes us down, around and through. Through the stuckness in the mind, the stiffness in the body and out the other side to a more liberated and unified self. With over a decade of experience curating festivals, conscious gatherings, and ecstatic dance waves in Floyd, Virginia, she brings a seasoned devotion to movement-centered music spaces. Now a regular presence on Asheville’s ecstatic dance floors, she is first and foremost a lover of the dance.
