Comfort Foods and Memories, a new exhibition by artist Marion Vidal

Comfort Foods and Memories, a new exhibition by artist Marion Vidal offers a seasonal journey through traditional Southern foods—one painted memory at a time. An opening reception and opportunity to meet the artist will be held Friday, October 2, from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.

Vidal chose this theme because comfort food carries history. Each still-life setup guides viewers through a quiet narrative, evoking recognition through familiar serving dishes, countertop scenes, and everyday objects that hold personal meaning. Vidal uses illumination to soften forms, intensify color, and shape shadows that bring depth and vibrancy to each composition. Her backgrounds do more than set a mood; they help create an emotional tone. The result is a body of work that feels both nostalgic and alive.

Asheville Gallery of Art represents a collective of 31 local artists and is located in downtown Asheville. The gallery is open daily from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
