Backroads Tour
- Asheville Music Hall31 Patton Ave, Asheville, NC 28801, USA, Asheville,
Rural Progress, in partnership with Indivisible Asheville/WNC, invites you to celebrate America's 250th anniversary with us when the Backroads Tour rolls into town here in Asheville on May 24.
This coast-to-coast live music run is designed to celebrate the rebellious joy, cultural grit, and community power that have always pulsed through backroads America. In these times where fragmentation, isolation, and economic pressure have reshaped small-town life, the Backroads Tour is intentionally human-scaled. The Asheville event includes nationally known musicians with Appalachian rural roots: genre-defying Raury, Pittsboro's defiant singer-songwriter Joseph Terrell, WNC's own Sparrow Smith of the Resonant Rogues, straight-to-the heart Dori Freeman, and brother-and-sister fiddlers Elisha and Aila Wildman.
The event also features the Backroads Tour story booth, where everyone is invited to share stories about community-- the moments that made you who you are, the people who carried you, and the future you envision--stories that will be collected with others across the country and published in book form later this year.
This special event is for artists, organizers, activists, and people-powered community groups. Join us for an evening of music and connection, as we celebrate the hard work of organizing our community and share some of the stories that shape our lives.
