Asheville Bus Stop Bench Building Event!

The Asheville chapter of Strong Towns and Asheville Tool Library are hosting their second Bus Stop Bench Building Event on Sunday, October 11th from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 16 Smith Mill Rd. Asheville has a severe issue building bus stop infrastructure, with most lacking sidewalks, rain shelters, lighting, trash cans, and benches. This is one of the first easiest actions we can take as a community, and requires very little funding. So far, Strong Towns Asheville has built 12 benches that have been deloped at some of the most frequented bus stops in and around town.

This is the second time Asheville Tool Library and Strong Towns Asheville have partnered on a Bus Stop Bench Building Event - the first being in August 2026. These events are open are open to those 18 and older, and no experience is necessary. Help is needed building, sanding, staining, and placing benches.
