The Asheville Ballet presents The Nutcracker

Join The Asheville Ballet for a spectacular professional production of the full original Nutcracker ballet from Imperial Russia, interpreted and performed by Asheville’s own Ballet Company, directed by Ann Dunn.

With great excitement, we announce the return of featured artist, Marcelo Martinez, as the Snow King. He will once again partner our own Megan Jones Medford’s Snow Queen. Also joining us this year are guest artists Helen Cho as the Dew Drop Fairy, Hannah Wineinger as the Sugar Plum Fairy, and Jonas Godwin as the Cavalier.

That we will pull this off after our studio was devastated by Helene is a miracle of volunteerism, community dance help, and our GivingFund. Ticket sales and exuberant audiences will be the next statements of community support for our contribution to the cultural life of Western North Carolina for over 60 years!

Asheville Ballet, directed by Ann Dunn, North Carolina’s oldest non-profit ballet company, has built a reputation on the belief that dance plays a vital role in the education and culture of the community. First incorporated in 1963, the company has created and presented work in Asheville every year since. In an average season, formal and educational outreach programming affects a culturally diverse audience of approximately 23,000 people. An active advisory panel and a strong, well-organized volunteer base assist a committed board.
