Asemic Writing & Mark-Making Using Nature Materials w/ Mel Sozer

    Asemic Writing and Mark-Making

    with Nature Materials

We are shaped by the landscape around us and within us — by the rhythm of

seasons, the texture of soil, the quiet language of living things. Asemic writing is a visual language without fixed words — it looks like writing, it moves like

writing, but it carries no fixed meaning. It belongs to everyone and to no one.

In this one-hour workshop, we will make marks the way nature does —

intuitively, freely, without overthinking. You will work with acrylic ink and

brushes made from dried plants and foraged natural materials, feeling how

each tool carries the memory of the earth it came from. A dried stem makes a

different mark than a bundled leaf. A foraged twig writes differently than a

    manufactured brush.

This is about slowing down, listening to your hand, and letting the landscape

    speak through you.

No experience needed. Just curiosity and a willingness to be surprised.

Acrylic ink is joyfully messy - please wear something you are comfortable staining.
