4/18/2022  - Our friends at the Grove Park Inn are all-in for AIF 2022.  GPI will play host to AIF on June 16, 2022 for cocktails, dinner, a screening of Lynn Novick’s film AND an alternative symphony concert with the Asheville Symphony Orchestra

4/1/2022 - Kizzmekia Corbett, who led the historically successful COVID-19 vaccine research efforts at the NIH will participate in the inaugural William L. Roper Lecture in Medicine and Public Health at AIF 2022.

3/23/2022 - We are pleased to confirm that there will be a live taping of NPR’s Waters and Harvey Show at AIF 2022.  Darin and Marcus will lead a panel discussion with educational leaders about the renaissance of Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs)

3/10/2022 - Do you love mountain music?  How about world class guitar?  Grammy winning guitarist and vocalist Graham Sharp of the Steep Canyon Rangers will perform at AIF 2022.

3/5/2022 - It’s official: Highland Brewing, the pioneering Asheville brewery, is making a special beer just for us.  We’ll tap the keg on the roof deck at Highland as we open AIF 2022 on June 14th.

2/27/2022 - Elizabeth Kostova, national best-selling author of The Historian, will join a panel of distinguished authors at AIF 2022.

2/23/2022 - Brian Kamoie, former senior FEMA official and current holder of the Distinguished Chair of Leadership at the US Naval Academy, will be with us for AIF 2022.

2/22/2022 - Asheville Ideas Fest is pleased to confirm that international commentator Fareed Zakaria will lead an engaging discussion on the state of democracy around the world.  Fareed will be our evening speaker on June 15, 2022. Wow, that’s going to be quite a day!

1/20/2022 - Gandhi Peace Award recipient and environmental scholar, Bill McKibben will join us on June 15, 2022 to talk about our shared environmental legacy.

1/10/2022 - We look forward to welcoming 2021 American Book Award winner and author of Hell of a Book (and it really is), Jason Mott at AIF 2022.

12/15/2022 - Documentary filmmaker Lynn Novick, known for her work with Ken Burns, will screen her film on the history of crime and punishment at AIF 2022.

12/2/2022 - Noted American history, Dr. Jon Meacham will lead a discussion on what comes next in our American journey at AIF 2022.
