You can’t come back from summer camp empty-handed. Here are some places to tickle your own creative side and come home with projects cool enough to make your kids envious. Enjoy some craft time at Summer Camp for Grownups!
- Spend an hour or two painting your own pottery at Fired Up! Creative Lounge and Art Boutique.
- Paradise isn’t far off, if you’re a knitting fan. Stop by Yarn Paradise for knitting supplies and classes ranging from an introduction to knitting to private knitting or crochet instruction.
- Black Mountain Center for the Arts offers, among dozens of choices, drop-in figure-drawing classes, oil painting instruction and pottery classes.
- The inner potter will emerge at Odyssey Center for the Ceramic Arts, where you can take weekend or extended workshops on topics ranging from throwing techniques to inventive pottery making.
- And if you’re short on the artistic gene but long on the craft appreciation gene, visit “Beyond Expectations: New Members of the Southern Highland Craft Guild.” The exhibit runs May 9 to Sept. 16 and showcases some of the best artists in the region.
