Sure you can do the typical fall tour of putting on some comfortable shoes, grabbing your binoculars and camera, and heading out. But why tour on your feet or in a car when you can experience a new spin with a unique fall tour of the Asheville area?
- You can walk, or you can glide. Consider taking a Moving Sidewalks Segway tour to see some of the area’s highlights.
Moving Sidewalks offers a narrated history tour of downtown Asheville. Or, get out amongst the fall foliage at the North Carolina Arboretum. You’ll ride on the trails to learn more about the plants and trees in the gardens. At Biltmore Estate, you’ll be off on trails along the French Broad River boasting some of the best views of the house. Of course, all these tours begin with detailed lessons on how to operate the popular machines. - If you prefer to ride instead of glide, hop aboard a trolley for a narrated tour of the area including downtown, Biltmore Village and the Grove Park area.
- Or, try something a little wild like the LaZoom tour. This 90-minute tour features comedy skits, music and captivating stories about the area’s history, culture and counterculture.
- Wildwater Ltd. Rafting offers rafting trips as well as Wildwater Jeep Tours (see the pdf Jeep tour brochure). There is a half-day Jeep tour of area waterfalls, as well as a full day Trails and Rails ride on Jeep and train.
- If you like trains, consider a fall tour on the rails. The Great Smoky Mountain Railroad offers a variety of rail tours, including the special October Leaf Season Train.
