"The Little Dog Laughed"
Yes, we love the cinema for its great auteurs, its glorious faces and its daring images. But in this tabloid age where big stars go on Oprah and jump around like heartsick schoolboys, what we really love is all that dish! Mitchell is a movie star on the verge of hitting it big if it weren't for one tiny problem - his agent, Diane, can't seem to keep him in the closet. A clever and risqué satire!

Simone Lipscombe- Adventurous Essays
Join author and adventurer Simone Lipscombe as she reads from Sharks on My Fin Tips: A Wild Woman's Adventures With Nature, a collection of inspirational, and educational essays that celebrate the natural world and our place within in it. "Simone Lipscomb's passion for adventure and travel come through in her new book... While enthusiastic, her adventure-nature writing is also sensitive and insightful with a sense of wonder and awe that is both confident and professional. Amidst sharks, monkeys, rattlesnakes and amniotic waters, Lipscomb finds herself at home and in reverence, in love, with the natural world. What a gift to those of us too timid to stray into the path of harms way or rough terrain. Simone Lipscomb goes there for us, as a kind of scout, and reports back in enticing prose. --Thomas Rain Crowe, author of Zoro's Field: My Life in the Appalachian Woods

Masterworks Concert 4 - First Loves
February is an easy target for music of romance, and the ASO will deliver with a concert of first loves. The most famous pair of first loves, Romeo and Juliet, frame our concert with two very different but intriguing takes on the Shakespearean tale. American composer David Diamond created a touching score for his take on the star-crossed pair, while Tchaikovsky’s version is loaded with passion, anguish, sensuality, and a fierce sonic sword battle. Rubenstein-competition winner Angela Cheng will grace our stage with the virtuosic Second Piano Concerto of Chopin, and in another take on “first loves,” we will perform George Gershwin’s gentle and bluesy Lullaby.
