Home of the Southern Highland Craft Guild representing craft artists from Southern Appalachia. Houses three fine galleries and offers daily craft demonstrations. It is also the home to Allanstand, the nation's first craft shop, and a Blue Ridge Parkway information desk and Eastern National bookstore.

Directions:

From Interstate 40: Take Exit Number 55 to Highway 70, which is Tunnel Road. Turn left and go about one mile to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Turn right onto the Parkway entrance ramp. At the stop sign, turn right (north) onto the Parkway. Go approximately one half mile and the Folk Art Center is on the left. From Downtown Asheville:Take US Highway 70 East (Tunnel Road) to the Parkway. Go underneath the Parkway and exit right, onto the Parkway entrance ramp. At the stop sign, turn right (north) onto the Parkway. Go approximately one half mile and the Folk Art Center is on the left.

Times/Hours: Open daily 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., April through December; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., January through March

Season: Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Days
