Hiking the mountains of Western North Carolina

Hike along an old railroad bed that follows the Laurel River. Shade from the canyon, swimming holes and shallow wading areas make this trail the perfect summer spot. Take your pick of several great camping spots, build a fire and fall asleep to the sound of the babbling river.

Directions from Asheville

  1. Take I-26 W to exit 19A for 25N/70W.
  2. Follow 25/70 for 21.3 miles.
  3. The parking area is located at the intersection of 25/70 and 208.
