Sam Silver is a seventh generation mountain farmer in Mitchell County, NC. For more than one hundred years Twin Oak Farms has produced dairy, beef and tobacco. Today the rolling valley and steep mountainsides are planted in red, white and specialty potatoes.
Sam is famous for his heirloom Kennebec potato. This variety is a mountain favorite, known for its crispy, flavorful flesh and ideal for mashing or frying.
The farm is open in season (August to November) Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:00 and Saturday from 8:00 to 12:00, and off season by appointment. Twin Oaks Farm potatoes can also be found in Asheville natural grocers, local restaurants and the WNC Farmers Market.
