The Little People
Mixed Blood Woman presents Maura Michelle Garcia, Choreographer + Dancer. Contemporary dancer/performance artist Maura Michelle Garcia performs her original multi-media piece that explores the world of the ancient Cherokee fairies, the Yunwi Tsundi or "little people," and about having, loosing and reclaiming traditional Cherokee beliefs and Native identity. The founder of Mixed Blood Woman, a contemporary dance theater company, Garcia was awarded an MFA in performance art from Howard University. Held in conjunction with the exhibition Cherokee Carvers: Tradition Renewed.
