Open House at the Fine Arts League of the Carolinas

Open House: The Fine Arts League is opening its classroom doors and giving the public a chance to experience its curriculum first hand with a day of art classes. Artists, enthusiasts and potential students are all welcome to join any one of three classes being held concurrently on Saturday morning. Guests can also sign up to have their portfolios reviewed by our faculty of professional artists. Class descriptions are listed below; please call and sign up for the class of your choice (828.252.5050): Portrait Drawing (Instructor, Roger Nelson)- A three hour portrait session where students will work alongside the instructor as he discusses the methods and pace needed to produce a portrait drawing in one sitting. Students can use the dry medium of their choice. Artistic Anatomy (Instructor, Michael Smith)- An one hour, interactive lecture discussing the anatomical aspects of gesture and movement followed by a two hour figure drawing session with a model in several poses. Students can use the dry medium of their choice. Landscape Demonstration (Instructor, John Mac Kah)- A three hour lecture and painting demonstration focused on the color palettes and methods used for capturing landscapes in plein air.
