Outstanding WNC Student Sought for Chamber Hospitality Scholarship Award

Nominations are due Feb. 16, 2007 for the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce's annual $2,000 Hospitality Scholarship Award that recognizes an outstanding student from Western North Carolina pursuing a hospitality or culinary-oriented associate's or bachelor's degree.

Eligible applicants will be measured by work experience, academic studies, extracurricular involvement. They also must be a full or part-time college student or high school senior whose permanent residence is in one of the following counties: Alleghany, Ashe, Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga, Wilkes or Yancey.

Entries must be postmarked by Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 to the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, Attn: Desiree Callahan, P.O. Box 1010, Asheville, NC 28802. The winner will be announced and awarded at the annual National Tourism Week Reception presented by M7 Event Solutions on Tuesday, May 15, 2007 where more than 350 tourism ambassadors will gather to celebrate the impact of tourism in Asheville.
