Why geocache in the Asheville area?

The Asheville area is the ideal destination for geocaching. Why are we so confident? Well, within 100 miles of downtown Asheville's zip code 28801 there are more than 7,600 caches hidden in both urban areas and the wilderness of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Why would you need to go anywhere else?

Year-Round Geocaching

Embark on a treaasure hunt and hone your geocaching skills with one of our year-round geocaching adventures. Geocaching is a hi-tech form of orienteering that will take you to places around the Asheville area that you may not normally get to see.

The Ultimate AsheCache Program

The 2008 version of the Ultimate AsheCache adventure program has already ended. The program united the principles of geocaching with the excitement of a treasure hunt for visitors staying in participating area accommodations. Ultimate AsheCache presented the perfect way to explore the area as you visit numerous spots to find clues for the coordinates of the final treasure.

Each Tuesday, the caches were replenished with incredible treasures from area partners. Five themed caches - culinary, arts, shopping, couples/romance and outdoor-inspired - ensured that no matter what your interest, you could find something incredible to write home about, from incredible pieces of art to culinary tours to incredible outdoor gear.
